This gorgeous limited edition from IWC's Portuguese family gives a unique nod to the collection's history, with a plexiglass facade that is both as tough as nails and authentic enough to give a great vintage twist to the Portuguese's familiar elegance. The watch can keep ticking for seven full days without any decrease in accuracy. This on its own would be fairly impressive, but even more remarkable is that this isn't even the full extent of available power. The actual reserve is more like eight days, but the whole movement is mechanically programmed to bring itself to a stop before the power is completely exhausted. Why? Because this avoids the risk of of the watch losing its precision from diminished torque as the mainspring winds down, and ensures that the system's input power remains constant. Conveniently, there is a large subdial that clearly shows when the watch is about to run out of juice.
