As the Seamaster evolved to become a fully fledged dive watch, with high water resistance and rotational bezel, the dressier De Ville became something of an anomaly within that collection. Therefore in 1967, Omega launched the De Ville as its own collection, and it has remained so ever since.

De Ville models in the 1970s, for example, captured the zeitgeist, with integrated bracelets, unorthodox case shapes and vibrant dials made from semi-precious stones.

In 1999, Omega introduced George Daniels’ innovative co-axial escapement into a De Ville watch, the first Omega model to be fitted with such a movement. Designed to minimise friction and remove the need for lubrication, it now features in all De Ville models, whether they are automatic or manual wind.
